"Merida" is an art piece created by artist Raul O'Campo.

Artist's Statement: "My grandparents owned a candy factory in Mexico when I was very small. This piece is meant to look like a chocolate bar to represent my early memories. The paper used is the type used in Mexican festivals that each town throws. The white on the wood represents the white plantation style estates that are still found in Mérida, Yucatán where I grew up. The skull represents death in line with ancestor appreciation in Mexican culture, but also represents the loss of some of these traditions as one immigrates to the US."
