This project was done by all three 4th grade classes, under the supervision of art teacher Ms. Flatley, organized by TMS parent Derik Rinehart, and assigned by auction assistant Gina Sims.

It is a mosaic of Van Gogh's "Starry Night", done with water based acrylic paints. We cut up a copy of the painting into 70 squares and assigned each student a square. What makes this project unique is that none of the students knew what the project was. They were each assigned a square and told to paint what they see in their square. So instead of this being 70 interpretations of 1 painting..... it's 70 interpretations of 70 portions of one painting. What made doing this project so special was during reassembly, you could get an insight into each students creative imagination by how they interpreted their piece. We want you to enjoy the same experience, so we are including the pieces of the copy they used. Each has a number and letter, 1-10 from left to right, A-G from top to bottom. Although the pieces of the copy do not have the students' names on the back, you'll still have fun comparing the pieces to their work.
