Your host: Ambassador Urban Ahlin

Mr. Ahlin arrived in Canada February 2019 representing Sweden as the Swedish Ambassador. Before arriving to Ottawa Mr. Ahlin was the Speaker of the Riksdag (Swedish Parliament) from 2014-2018. For the past twenty years, Urban Ahlin has worked in the field of foreign policy and Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the Swedish Parliament. Urban Ahlin was member of the Riksdag since 1994 to 2018, representing the Social Democratic Party. Urban Ahlin is a teacher and graduated from the University of Karlstad with a Master of Science in Education. Urban Ahlin is married to Jenni and has two daughters.

The location: Swedish Ambassador's Residence in Rockcliffe Park

The Swedish ambassadorial residence is located on a headland high above the Ottawa River in a house built in an architectural style known as Queen Anne Revival.

The building at 700, Manor Avenue was built in 1913, and designed by the architect Allan Keefer. Keefer designed many of the magnificent buildings in the exclusive Rockcliffe Park neighbourhood.

The Chef: Chef Cole Baker

Chef Cole Baker has worked at the Swedish Ambassadors' Residence for 15 years with focus on modern Nordic Cuisine. Mr. Baker was trained as a chef in Belgium. He has worked in Toronto, New York and in Sweden which reflects in his cooking. Mr. Baker incorporates vegetables grown and preserved at the Swedish Residence with focuses on local sustainable ingredients.
