Hop on a boat, put a few miles of salt water behind you and escape to Crown Jewel. It is a retreat from the ordinary, tucked away in Diamond Cove on tiny Great Diamond Island in Casco Bay, and it's here to give you all the excuses to celebrate summer. Crown Jewel serves small plates of elevated seafood classics. Their aim is to always be excellent, creative, and casual. They are the opposite of stuffy, prepared to serve any crowd with fantastic food, libation and the kind of laid-back atmosphere you can only get on an unbridged island. When you're there, you leave real time and the real world behind.

Please make your reservation one week in advance (especially in the summer, their reservations fill up very quickly Thursday - Sunday).

The owner can also arrange for private transportation (water taxi) to and from Portland for an additional $50 each way. Taking the ferry out is also lovely, slow going and fun, too.
