"Girl on a Bicycle" is an 8 1/2 x 11 signed print of the original watercolor by Mary T. Griffith in a 15 1/2 x 18 1/2 frame.
Mary Trussell Griffith, a native Georgian, was born and educated in Athens, GA. She studied under internationally known Georgia artist, Lamar Dodd, received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Georgia and did graduate work at Memphis State University, The Memphis Art Academy and the University of Georgia. She painted with a number of leading watercolorists throughout the east coast and traveled regularly to Green Turtle Cay, Bahamas to paint the local color. Her paintings, fabric creations and designs were featured in many regional shows and her works were represented in myriad juried and one woman exhibits.
Over the years selected watercolors were chosen for the covers of The High Tide Adventure Guide, a tourism magazine for the Golden Isles, and her painting of the St. Simons Island Lighthouse appeared on the back cover of Georgia Journal. Her work appeared in the 1989 edition of Artists In Georgia and the 1992 edition of Artists of the South. For many years she was a revered art teacher in the public school system in Glynn County and later she taught at Brunswick College, the Jekyll Island Art Association where she was also president, and for South Georgia College in the National Elderhostel program on Jekyll Island.
She died in September 2003.
