KLAS Channel 8 Tour

In 1953, KLAS became the first television station in Nevada. This opportunity will provide you a chance to meet on-air talent, sitting in the studio during the noon newscast, and visiting the old Howard Hughes bungalow. The Howard Hughes Bungalow is rarely open to the public. Make sure you're ready for your close-up!

KLAS first signed on the air on July 8, 1953; the station was originally owned by Las Vegas Television Inc., run by Hank Greenspun, owner of the Las Vegas Sun. KLAS-TV presently broadcasts 35½ hours of locally produced newscasts each week (with six hours each weekday, two hours on Saturdays and 3½ hours on Sundays); in addition, the station also produces an additional five hours of local newscasts for its MeTV subchannel (with one hour each weekday).
