9 Watchers

5 days, 4 nights for 4 guests experiencing the new 87,500 acre Katahdin Woods and Water National Monument. Beginning in Bangor, Maine, you will be transported to Pushaw Lake and fly by float plane to Grand Lake Matagamon, where you will set off on a three day backcountry adventure. You will canoe and fish the East Fork of the Penobscot River, known for its smallmouth bass and landlocked salmon fishing. Depending on the season, you can mix in grouse and woodcock hunting, hiking, or biking. Depending on your interests, accommodations will include camping, shelters, cabins, or staying in a historic 150 year old sporting camp within the Monument. On the last night, you'll be treated to gourmet cooking, beautiful lodging, and great hospitality at the New England Outdoor Center before getting on the float plan the next morning and flying back to Pushaw Lake and then back to Bangor.

While in the Monument you'll be spending time where Theodore Roosevelt spent a lot of his time as a young man learning the joys of the outdoor life. He traveled with Maine Guides, Joe Sewall and Bill Dow, who accompanied him to the Dakota Territory and whom he dedicated his 1919 essay, My Debt to Maine.

Restrictions: Transportation to Bangor, Maine not included. Season of trip will be determined based on winner's preference. The guests plus gear should weigh no more than 800 pounds. Expires 12/31/20.

Value: Priceless
