Artist: Doug Pisik

Medium: Wood

Size: 8" x 10" x 5.5"

Doug Pisik is a nationally recognized artist who specializes in creating wood sculptures, 3D wall
pieces and intricate art boxes with complex designs both inside and out. He uses a meticulous
and unique approach to construct both geometrical patterns and freeform carvings while
preserving the natural beauty of the diverse wood species he uses.

Recognized for his unique talent, Doug has been identified as a "Top Artist" by Marquis Who's
Who, been part of over twenty museum exhibitions, received awards in many juried exhibits of
national artists, collaborated with other recognized artists, and is classified as a "Master
Woodworker" from the Woodworker's Guild of Georgia. He has accepted large commissions
including several from Ritz Carlton, Geogia Chamber of Commerce, Home Depot, Carnival
Corporation, Terminus Modern Ballet Theatre, and the Smith Gilbert Gardens.

His work is often composed of unique geometric patterns generated out of highly contrasting
woods with a perfected technique called "Through-Pattern Construction" allowing complex
patterns to pass from the outside through to the inside of his boxes and to the backside of his
sculptures ensuring every facet is finely decorated. Dyes and stains are typically avoided and
instead Doug continuously searches for woods with naturally contrasting colors and tones to
accent his work. Some of his pieces are constructed with over a dozen species of wood and
are composed of over a thousand pieces seamlessly joined into a solid composition.

His work is collected by Tony and Emmy award winners, movie producers, Pulitzer and
Grammy nominees, CEOs, an art museum, botanical gardens, authors, other artists, and can be
found in collections coast-to-coast and overseas. His art is sold via private commissions, the
High Museum of Art, and galleries in Georgia, Colorado, and online.
