Using clear, brightly pastel and candy colors without texture or shading, and always outlining her forms, Kozlow places her figures frontally against mirthful, solid-color backgrounds - blue, white, yellow, lavender, pink, chartreuse - with distinct poise and attitude within each portrait.
Artist Biography
Karen Kozlow was predominately a painter known for her lively compositions and color schemes which were often intended to insight feelings of pleasure and glee. Kozlow won an award at the Third Art Center Annual of California Painting and Sculpture for her painting "Cradled Light,". According to her husband and influential artists of the San Diego avantgarde movement Lou Sander - Kozlow became one of the first woman artists given an award in the prestigious series of annuals.
This piece was donated by the Family of Marge and Phil Kalodner.
