Spring Birding Tour for up to Six

Join Mohonk Preserve's Associate Director of Conservation Science & Research, Megan Napoli, for a guided birding tour in the Mohonk Preserve Foothills (or Preserve location of your choice!). Your group will receive a personal birding education session where you'll learn to identify birds by sight and by sound, information on how to make your backyard bird-friendly, and what tools you can use to aid your birding identification skills. You'll also learn the actions the Mohonk Preserve takes to protect natural habitats and the impacts of climate change on our regional bird population and answer any questions you may have.

A beverage of your choice such as coffee or tea and snacks will be provided as well as a copy of Sibley Birds East, Field Guide to Birds of Eastern North America to help you identify our fine feathered friends.

Length of birding session is approximately 2-3 hours, and length of travel can be up to you, but is generally between 2 - 5 miles. Your choice of season for birding session! In late fall and winter, bird feeders with seed and suet can attract many of our resident (non-migratory) species so this is an ideal time to learn your local bird species. In spring, especially in early May, there is the possibility of seeing migrant species passing through on their way to breeding territories - such as warblers, flycatchers, vireos, etc. In early summer, birds are nesting and raising young and so we'll discover who's chosen the Preserve as their breeding territory.

Note: Please initiate communication about scheduling your birding session at least six weeks prior to your ideal time.
