Artist Bio

This summer has taught me many lessons about how I see and express the world around me, and along the way, I found inspiration in my emotions, the energy of my brushstrokes, and the symbolism animals hold. As I explored these ideas through each piece, I began to see how art can transform personal experiences, memories, and emotions into stories of change, resilience, curiosity, and self-discovery.

My largest piece is inspired by my late bunny (Fridita) my companion of ten years, whose passing this summer led me to reflect on the passage of time and transformation. For this canvas, I envisioned a mystical forest. I chose the main hue of the painting for its symbolism and deep-rooted connection to mystery and wonder. To amplify this idea, I experimented with my brushes to create a variety of soft and sharp edges.

For my second-largest painting, I explored the theme of wilderness. Wolves often symbolize freedom, strategy, and resilience, qualities I wanted to capture through the subject as a pathfinder navigating an abstract forest.

Lastly, for my smallest work, I decided to stray from the forest theme. In truth, there are few obvious similarities between a fox and a quilt, but I found this contrast intriguing and saw an opportunity to explore storytelling. Foxes are known for their ability to hide, symbolizing stealth and subtle movement. I was particularly drawn to the idea of a fox's curiosity overcoming its solitary nature, compelling it to investigate what lies beyond its surroundings.
