Artist Bio

Charity Shelton is an emerging multidisciplinary artist whose practice is rooted in curiosity, experimentation, and self-expression. Her work explores the relationship between creativity, emotion, and the everyday experiences that connect people to one another. She has been creating art intuitively since high school, initially experimenting with pencil, pen ink, charcoal sticks, and unconventional techniques without having formal knowledge of the artistic processes behind them. Over time, what began as personal experimentation developed into a distinctive mixed-media approach. She layers drawing materials, colors, and textures to create pieces that invites viewers to look beyond the immediate image and discover details within it. Her creative process is both intentional and improvisational. Charity doesn't approach art with the expectation of knowing every technique or having complete control over the final result. Instead, she embraces the process of learning as she creates, allowing new materials and discoveries to influence the direction of her work. A recurring element throughout Charity's work is a spiral, which has become a personal visual signature. For her, the spiral represents continual growth and expansion. It reflects her belief in constantly absorbing new experiences, ideas, techniques, and perspectives. Her work encourages close observation, often incorporating small figures, hidden details, and layered imagery that reveal themselves gradually.
