Born March 10, 1997, he was produced to concentrate the blood of Dai 10 Mitsumaru (FB424). He was sired by Hikari (FB2455), a 1993-born bull known for high weight gain, and his dam is Kaedemaru (FB11873), the first Fullblood Red Wagyu born outside of Japan. Umemaru has sired numerous show champions and is considered one of the top sires in North America. He is frequently cited for correcting conformation issues and enhancing ribeye area (REA) and intramuscular fat. The dam of this mating BMR Rueshaw F126 is a prominent Akaushi donor cow and the "Queen" of the Signature Wagyu donor program. She is heavily influenced by the foundation sire Rueshaw on the top side of her pedigree. Her lineage includes Rueshaw (top) with a foundation base of Hikari, Shigemaru, HB Big Al, and Tamamaru. Rueshaw genetics are extremely rare and highly valued; his semen has historically sold for over $20,000 per straw. He was the 1975 Japanese Red National Champion Bull and one of the first two Wagyu bulls to leave Japan for the U.S. in 1976.
