There is only one Japanese National Champion to ever leave Japan. His name is Rueshaw.

Named the Japanese Red National Champion in 1975, Rueshaw was imported to Texas the following year by Morris Whitney. His arrival, along with three other foundation sires, marked the beginning of Wagyu breeding outside of Japan - and uniquely among all the bulls that would ever follow, Rueshaw was the only national champion to ever leave. Because he preceded the first Wagyu females by nearly 20 years, Rueshaw didn't sire any fullblood offspring during his lifetime - making the direct fullblood progeny that exist today, and the semen behind them, extraordinarily rare.

Rueshaw has no ancestors in common with any of the other imports, many of whom are closely related - making him a true and irreplaceable outcross to the entire modern Wagyu gene pool. He possessed a valuable outcross of blood in his genetic makeup that is vital to Akaushi stud breeders - a fact that only becomes more critical as the global gene pool tightens with each generation.

His progeny record speaks for itself. His son JC Rueshaw 75 was the only bull to win the Houston Livestock overall championship two years in succession, recording the top marbling score and largest ribeye competing against both Red and Black Wagyu bulls, eventually selling for a world record $500,000. Rueshaw's own semen has sold for as much as $22,000 for a single unit.
