The spinning weather vane was introduced in America by the European settlers and quickly became part of Americana folk art. Whirligigs became particularly popular in the Appalachian Mountains in the early 1800s. By the mid-1800s, whirligigs were made, bought, and sold, depicting details of everyday country living. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, whirligigs became popular across all of America.

Here we have the "Old Duffer" reacting to leaving his putt short, likely due to the distraction of the pesky gopher.

Hand made right here in Macomb in the Epperson shop.
