George A. Renouard was an American painter, printer, and graphic artist whose career spanned more than 40 years. Born in Rochester, NY, Renouard studied at Pratt Institute and the Art Students League in New York, where he worked under John Sloan and Mahonri Young. He is known for his empathetic depictions of working-class life, as well as his landscapes, seascapes, portraits, still lifes, and nautical subjects. Working in oils, watercolor, etching, and lithography, Renouard exhibited widely, and his work is held in collections such as the Library of Congress, Brooklyn Museum, and New York Public Library.
