The Universe After Dark
Under the Stars Party with Dr. Larry Camarota
The physicist adjusted the telescope and stepped aside.
"Take a look."
A simple invitation.
Yet through the eyepiece, an entirely different world appeared.
Mountains and craters etched across the surface of the Moon. A brilliant planet suspended against the darkness. Star clusters containing thousands of suns gathered into impossibly distant islands of light.
Suddenly, the night sky was no longer something overhead.
It became a destination.
Most evenings, we glance upward and see a few bright stars. But with the guidance of Dr. Larry Camarota, physicist at Middle Georgia State University, the familiar sky transforms into a grand tour of the cosmos.
On the night of a First Quarter Moon, when shadows reveal the Moon's most dramatic features, you'll gather with family and friends for a private astronomical adventure. Using a high-powered telescope, Dr. Camarota will reveal celestial treasures hidden in plain sight, from rugged lunar landscapes to sparkling star clusters, distant planets, and perhaps even a faraway galaxy.
Along the way, you'll hear the stories behind the stars.
Ancient constellations.
Cosmic mysteries.
Scientific discoveries that have changed our understanding of the universe.
And you'll learn how to find some of the night's most remarkable sights using nothing more than your own eyes.
No astronomy degree required.
Just curiosity.
Because the greatest discoveries often begin with a simple act.
Looking up.
