A tasting tour through two of the world's greatest wine regions. From Napa Valley, the 1984 Dominus represents one of the earliest vintages from the estate founded by Christian Moueix of Chateau Petrus, who set out to prove that Napa's Napanook Vineyard could produce a Bordeaux-caliber wine on American soil. Alongside it, the 1994 Opus One, born from the historic 1979 partnership between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Chateau Mouton Rothschild, remains one of the original and most celebrated Napa-Bordeaux collaborations. Representing Bordeaux itself, the 1986 Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion hails from Pessac-Leognan, long considered the friendly rival across the road from its more famous neighbor, Chateau Haut-Brion, and prized for its power and dark, smoky complexity. Rounding out the lot, the 1999 Chateau Margaux comes from one of the five First Growths of the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, an estate renowned for producing wines of extraordinary finesse, perfume, and elegance. Together, this lot offers a rare side-by-side comparison of Old World tradition and New World ambition.
