A 24 x 20 inch photograph titled "House Behind Factory," depicting a scene in East Liverpool, Ohio, part of the celebrated ceramics-manufacturing region along the Ohio River, likely taken in the late 1970s or 1980s. The work is by photographer Andrew Borowiec, who has spent decades documenting the social and industrial landscape of the Rust Belt. Borowiec has deep ties to Akron, having taught at the University of Akron from 1984 to 2014, been named a Distinguished Professor of Art in 2009, and served as Director of the University of Akron Press. East Liverpool figures prominently in his acclaimed "Along the Ohio" series (1985-1998), published as a book by Johns Hopkins University Press in 2000, and his work is held in the permanent collections of institutions including the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Photography.
