Glass Art Society Conference demonstration piece by Kaeko Maehata, Jessie Oblon, Aya Oki, Corey Pemberton, Evan Seeling, & Sam Stang

This exuberant vessel is more than a beautiful example of murrini glass -- it is a tangible record of glassmaking as a collaborative art form. Created during the 2026 Glass Art Society celebration at Corning, the piece brings together Jessie Oblon, Kaeko Oblon, Aya Oki, Corey Pemberton, Evan Seeling, and master glassblower Sam Stang.

Bands of vivid yellow and pink shine, their repeated patterns transformed as the glass was heated, stretched, gathered, and blown. Murrini begins with patterned glass rods that are sliced into cross-sections, assembled, reheated, and incorporated into a new object -- a process demanding extraordinary planning and teamwork.

Stang has spent decades refining traditional European glassblowing techniques and is especially admired for his murrini work. Here, however, the real magic is collective: six artists, one hot shop, and one object carrying the energy of a live glassmaking celebration.

Dimensions (in. WxHxD): 10 x 17 x 10
