Pasatiempo Golf Club - Santa Cruz, California-Golf for 4
Named for the Spanish word for "pastime," Pasatiempo was founded in 1929 by amateur champion Marion Hollins, who recruited the legendary Alister MacKenzie to design what he would call his finest course. Opening day featured a foursome that included Bobby Jones himself. MacKenzie loved it so much he made his American home there - a residence that still borders the sixth fairway today.
Golf Digest ranks Pasatiempo among the top 18 public courses in the country and second in California, just behind Pebble Beach. A recently completed restoration returned every green and bunker to MacKenzie's original 1929 specifications. This is a bucket-list round for any golfer who appreciates where the game has been.
