JUSTIN N. KIM (b. 1989, Incheon, South Korea) is a Los Angeles-based artist interested in visualizing the invisible energy that humans cannot see but can feel and experience. This ethereal aura can be felt, but neither touched nor seen; it becomes recognizable through moments that remind people of the unseen threads connecting all things. Through abstract map paintings and landscapes, Kim explores this formless light and the subtle connections it creates, revealing an invisible energy that links people, places, and experiences in one way or another. His Bigger Than Myself series developed out of observing people's desire to connect with others, including his own desire to connect with others. The paintings offer an abstract view of life, with many different people and things happening all at once. Kim earned his MFA from Cal State University, Northridge in 2018. Kim works with la BEAST Gallery, Los Angeles; Richard Levy Gallery, New Mexico; BAM Art Advisory, New York; and Mooni, New York. Kim's work is in the permanent collections of CSU Northridge, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, San Jose, CA, and Gateway Center, Albuquerque, NM.
