CAMILLE HAWBAKER VOORHEES is an award-winning mixed media artist based in Omaha, NE. She uses traditional "craft" techniques from printmaking, bookmaking, and textiles disciplines to explore the perpetual nature of change within inherited systems of thought. Working with paper, silk, and thread, Hawbaker Voorhees builds intricate compositions of continuous lines. She transforms them with processes of burning, printing, drawing, dyeing, and stitching. She completed residencies at the Union for Contemporary Art in Omaha, NE, and Safiuddin Printmaking Studio in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Hawbaker Voorhees formerly served as an artist-in-residence at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and as part-time faculty at Creighton University, the University of Nebraska Omaha, Wesleyan University, and Metropolitan Community College in the past decade. She earned her BFA from Baylor University in Waco, TX, and her MFA in Studio Art from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2014.
