DARNSTUDIO is the collaborative practice of David Anthone and Ron Norsworthy. Informed by their Midwestern backgrounds, the artists reinterpret objects of material culture as systems of remembrance. Through a process they describe as "re: meaning," they transform culturally familiar forms to examine how histories are constructed, preserved, and contested. Their work explores cultural identity, collective memory, and shared histories. Their work is included in the permanent collections of the Newark Museum of Art, The New York Historical, and the International Quilt Museum, among other public and private collections. Anthone, who was raised in Valley, NE, received a BA in architecture and art history from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and pursued graduate studies in planning and historic preservation at Columbia University. Norsworthy received a BA in architecture from Princeton University and was an artist-in-residence at Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in 2022. Anthone and Norsworthy are MacDowell Fellows and have received numerous fellowships, residencies, grants, and awards. They live and work in Roxbury, CT, and Tulum, Mexico.
