JEN CLAY was born in 1985 in Mountain View, NC and earned a BFA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and an MFA from the University of Florida in 2014. Based in South Florida, her work is interactive and fiber-focused, often incorporating sewn messages. Notable works include Soft Sanity (2019) and Welcome to You&Me (2019), designed for neurodiverse audiences, and a quilt-composed video game and installation at Locust Projects (2023), supported by a Knight Arts New Work Award. She is currently on view at The Ackland Museum in Chapel Hill, NC, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami. Previous artist-in-residence programs include Oolite Arts, Atlantic Center for the Arts, Vermont Studio Center, Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center, and the McColl Center. Her practice was featured in a short documentary called, "The Texture of Anxiety," which won a regional Emmy. Currently, she's a studio resident at Mass MoCA until June. In 2027, her work will be shown at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. Clay is represented by Baker-Hall Gallery, Miami, FL.
