MASSA LEMU is a visual artist and writer whose multidisciplinary artistic practice takes the form of text, performance, and multimedia installations that are concerned with the contradictions of migration and the psychological effects of immaterial, flexible, and mobile capitalism on the post-colonial subject. Lemu intervenes in objects and spaces, using the aesthetics of politics to comment on the politics of aesthetics. Lemu has exhibited at 1708 Gallery, Oakwood Arts, Lawndale Arts Center, and Rice University. Lemu is a member of the Malawian collective Ozhope, with whom he has exhibited on Lake Malawi, in the streets of Lilongwe, at Zomba Market, at the University of Malawi, with the Boda Boda Lounge Panafrican video festival, at ABC art space in Cape Town, at City Saltz in Basel, at Unit London, and at 1927 art space in Athens.
