SHELLY BARTEK was born in Nebraska's country setting, led to the spirit of land and sky within nature's narrative. Bartek's signature mediums are oil paint and gold leaf. Her subjects vary, but always sustain the prairie. Bartek's work has been exhibited in galleries from California to Florida. Her talent was recognized early when she received a first-place National Scholastic Award. She holds a degree in commercial art with an emphasis in illustration. She developed her own style training with established artists at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, CO. Her gold leaf techniques are inspired by the Prosopon School of Iconography, New York. Bartek was a finalist for the Nebraska Arts 1% Grant for the Buffett Cancer Center and a top finalist in the national Paint America competition. She has also received honorary commissions from organizations including the United Nations and Paramount Pictures. Most recently, she received the People's Choice Award at the PACE New Masters 2025 Exhibition. Bartek's work is represented by Anderson O'Brien Fine Art Gallery in Omaha, NE.
