STEVE JOY (b. 1952) has lived and worked in Omaha, NE, since 1997. His education includes Cardiff College of Art, Exeter, England; an MFA from the Chelsea School of Art, London; and an MFA from Kyoto University. He served as a Bemis Center Curator in 1998 and as a professor at Bergen Academy of Art, Trondheim School of Art, Norway, and Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Caen, France. Exhibitions include a Retrospective at the Joslyn Museum; Sioux City Art Center; Willa Cather Foundation; Drammen Museum; Bergen Museum; and Trondheim Museum, Norway. Group shows include Art Bank, McCook, NE; PACE Arts; Clarinda Art Museum, Clarinda, IA. Represented by Gallerie Storrer, Zurich, Switzerland; Minima Gallery, Mykonos, Greece; Velarde, Kingsbridge, UK; Sweet Art Gallery, Naples, Florida; LED Design, New York. Recent exhibitions include LED Design, New York; Gallery White Box, London; Flowers Gallery, London; Maple St Construct; and Garden of the Zodiac, Omaha, NE. Using medieval techniques with gold leaf and oils, his paintings investigate the history of icon painting.
