DAVID ALLEN BURNS AND AUSTIN YOUNG are the artist duo Fallen Fruit, based in Los Angeles. Working across installation, photography, public art, and participatory practice, Fallen Fruit creates immersive environments that explore place, community, public space, biodiversity, and collective memory. Founded in Los Angeles in 2004, the project began with maps of publicly accessible fruit trees and evolved into a multidisciplinary practice investigating how people share resources, stories, and civic life. Drawing from public archives, museum collections, neighborhoods, and local histories, the artists create site-specific installations, photographs, public interventions, and permanent artworks that transform familiar spaces into opportunities for connection, reflection, and exchange. Fallen Fruit was originally conceived by Burns, Matias Viegener, and Young. Since 2013, Burns and Young have continued the collaborative work.

Artist-in-Residence, 2015
