KIM BECK creates site-specific interventions, public projects, and studio works that challenge how we perceive space and the everyday environment. Her diverse projects range from skywriting events and Grand Openings at the Grand Canyon to installations on highway billboards, botanical gardens, and rooftops along New York's High Line. She has exhibited widely at major institutions including the Walker Art Center, Carnegie Museum of Art, the Andy Warhol Museum, and Socrates Sculpture Park. Her practice has been supported by fellowships and residencies from MacDowell, Yaddo, Mass MoCA, and the Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program, with awards from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and Ars Electronica. Beck earned her BA from Brandeis University and an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. A Thomas J. Watson Fellow, she is a professor at the School of Art at Carnegie Mellon University. Originally from Colorado, she lives and works in Pittsburgh.
