Jeanette (Jet) Wittenberg was one of the finest landscape/seascape artists in the midwest. She lived in Ogden Dunes, Indiana where she painted for more than 40 years. She was best known for her Indiana Dunes pieces in and was considered by many as the finest Dunes artist in the Midwest.
Her artwork was sold through art galleries and at art shows around the Midwest. Her work was offered in galleries in Chicago Gold Coast, the Merchandise Mart, Chicago North Shore, in Northern Indiana (Chesterton, Valparaiso, Michigan City, and Munster), and in New Buffalo, Michigan. She exhibited at art shows in Riverwoods, Lake Forest, Hinsdale and Glen Ellyn, Illinois. She was also invited to exhibit her artwork at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke Hospital, and several of her paintings were shown there for 3 years. She exhibited at the Indianapolis Art Museum for a juried event, where she won "Best in Show" and "The Artists Choice" Awards with one of her Dune/Lake paintings.
Her favorite part of life was spending time with family, but the activity that she loved doing most was painting while listening to soft music. She attended art shows whenever she could because she loved being around people, and because so many of the people that purchased her paintings became friends for life. She painted with emotion, passion, and warmth, and not only did those qualities show in her artwork, but also in the friendships she developed through art.
