2026 Keynote Speaker: Lorissa Sweet
Lorissa Sweet was born and raised in rural Miami County where she graduated from Maconaquah High School. After High School she spent a year at Colorado State University studying Equine Science and then transferred to Purdue University, where she received a Bachelor's degree in Animal Agribusiness. In 2001, she married her husband Jeremy. Early on, while their children were young, she worked in the veterinary industry. In 2009, she opened a dog grooming salon in her home to have more time and flexibility for her children.
Throughout the years, she has served in women's ministry, youth ministry, Brethren Way of Christ, and Faith Quest. As a family, they have served on over a dozen mission trips both in the states and internationally. In 2015, during a time of prayer asking for guidance, God impressed upon her that He wanted to use her in the political realm. That prayer began a journey of learning about politics, meeting people in all spheres of politics, and ultimately running for office. In 2016, she was elected to Wabash County Council where she served for 6 years. Then was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives in the fall of 2021, where she continues to serve District 50.
Lorissa has been married to her husband Jeremy for 25 years this summer. They have two adult daughters, a son-in-law, and a grandson. They will be adding a second son-in-law to the family this summer. Her family has also had the opportunity to host four foreign exchange students and a foster daughter. Lorissa's first ministry has always been to her family, which was the impetus to her running for office. In her time at the statehouse, she has fought to uphold Christian values, protect life, and preserve the family. For the last two sessions, she has been the legislative sponsor for "My God Votes," which brings a different church to the statehouse every Wednesday to provide a chapel service offering worship music, a short message, and a historical tour of the statehouse for anyone who wants to attend. It has been a blessing to all who have participated and a legacy she hopes will last long after she is gone from the statehouse.
