You go in for one strand and leave with four. That is how the pearl market in Beijing works, and it is where this set began.

Round pearls are the ones that behave. Baroque pearls are the ones that don't - each grown into its own irregular shape, no two ever alike, prized for exactly that refusal to match. This set pairs a graduated strand of real pearls with a substantial baroque pendant on a Swarovski crystal setting, and drop earrings that echo it, each carrying its own baroque pearl. Worn together they read as one deliberate piece; worn apart, the earrings carry an evening on their own.

Debbie Carone has flown for forty-three years and shopped for the joy of it in more than sixty countries. She does not source from vendors, she sources from friends - pearls from a diver's family, settings made by hands she has shaken. Every piece she brings home is logged under her own mark: chosen by her, carried by her, sold once. Nothing was ordered from a catalogue, and nothing repeats. This set came home in a suitcase, one of one.
