Angelyn S. Chandler is an Atlanta based artist. After graduating from Emory University she pursued graduate studies at the John Herron Art Institute, Indianapolis, IN; Art Students League of NY; Joshi Bijutsu Daigaku (Women's Art University), Tokyo, Japan; Atlanta College of Art; and Georgia State University, Atlanta. "I experience painting as an exploration of myself and of my surroundings in order to widen my reality I am exploring map like images, pictographic markings and the coincidence of writing and picture making in asemic writing. Among her one person exhibits is a solo exhibit at the Chelsea Gallery, Western Carolina University; Wesleyan College Macon, Georgia; the Great American Gallery; the Connell Gallery, Atlanta; and Image South Gallery, Atlanta. She has been in numerous group exhibitions, such as "Women in the Eighties", Swan Coach House Gallery; "Atlanta Art Educators Exhibition", Art Institute of Atlanta; Gertrude Herbert Art Institute Regional juried show, Augusta GA; and "Chastain Art Center former Instructors" exhibit. Angelyn served as the Executive Director of the Atlanta International Museum of Art and Design (now MODA) for 13 years. She served as a Board member of the Nexus Contemporary Art Center. In 1997 she was an Honoree for Achievement in the Arts for Georgia Women, Historic Preservation Office in the Department of Natural Resources. Angelyn is currently a full-time studio artist, making ceramics and painting in her home studio.
