Shepard Fairey is an American street artist, graphic designer, activist, illustrator, and founder of OBEY Clothing.

Fairey blurs the boundary between traditional and commercial art through type and image, and is behind some of the world's most instantly recognizable street art - including Obama's unauthorized Hope image.

Fairey collaborated on this portrait of Paul Weller - the frontman and main songwriter for The Jam - with photographer Steve Rapport. Weller contributed tremendously to the punk rock scene, as well as to '70s and '80s English music in general.

Fairey credits punk rock with changing his life because it provided a raucous soundtrack, but also a rebellious, creative eco-system that was an alternative to the bland mainstream.

This print is titled "The Tranquility of Solitude" inspired by a lyric from the Jam's song "That's Entertainment".
