SUMMER ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING CAMP
Montana Tech Campus
Butte, Montana
JULY 27-31, 2026
Join us for a FREE, immersive experience where you'll tackle real-world challenges alongside expert faculty, industry leaders, and our current students.
The Montana Tech Summer Environmental Engineering Camp (SEEC) introduces students to the core ideas of environmental
engineering through hands-on projects, real-world case studies, and interactive labs. Students explore topics like water and
wastewater treatment, air pollution, renewable energy, pollution prevention, and sustainable design, while learning how engineers think and solve problems. Working in teams, participants will analyze environmental challenges, design practical solutions, and gain experience using the tools and methods environmental engineers use every day.
The Essentials:
Who: Designed for driven students entering their sophomore
through senior years who are interested in engineering and
sustainability.
Cost: FREE (Includes housing, meals, and all program materials).
Location: Montana Tech, Butte, MT.
What can you look forward to:
• Conduct drone flights to map cold-water patches for fish-habitat
enhancement.
• Conduct wastewater treatment experiments and reuse of waste
materials into new products.
• Underground mine tour and phytomining for critical minerals.
• Tour Butte through the lens of an environmental engineer and
visit industrial facilities.
• Take a bike ride along Silver Bow Creek and get hands-on in the
restoration.
From the Lab to the Field:
• Work in our state-of-the-art laboratories alongside Montana
Tech faculty.
• Field Exploration: Head into the Summit Valley to study
environmental systems in action.
• Put your skills to the test in a culminating design competition.
