This 925-silver handmade cuff bracelet, with alternating "Scarab" stone inlays of Lapis Lazuli from Afghanistan, Turquoise from the Sinai Peninsula and Carnelian from Nubia, was purchased in Cairo, Egypt. An amulet of a "scarab" represents a sign of good luck. Bracelet's inner circumference measures 7 inches.
In ancient Egypt, carved amulets of scarabs, were representations of the rising and setting of the sun. The Egyptian god Khepri, was believed to roll the sun across the sky each day at daybreak. In a similar way, some beetles use their legs to roll dung into balls. Ancient Egyptians believed this action was symbolic of the sun's east to west journey across the sky. Thus, the scarab was seen as a reflection of the eternal cycle of life and was characterized as representing the ideas of rebirth, resurrection and regeneration.
