Officer Ottengheime and Officer Stevens received a call on the morning of Christmas Eve that a dog had been shot multiple times. They rushed to his aid and drove him directly to Stray Rescue for emergency veterinary care. Dr. Oliver met them at the clinic, sedated him, and gave him an initial assessment. Miraculously, no bones had been broken despite the gunshot wounds near his mouth and in his rear hip. He did have a broken tooth that needed to be removed, but the clinic would wait until he had some healing under his belt. Wallace loved his rescuers so much. When Officer Ottengheime and Officer Stevens would come to visit him, he would crawl into their laps and give them a million grateful kisses. He loved his clinic team, his caregivers, and all of his staff and volunteer friends. This boy was so thankful to be alive and finally in a safe place.

Wallace is still looking for his forever family. Despite a few trials, he hasn't found his place yet. That's not from a lack of love - everyone LOVES Wallace, but sometimes, dogs that endure so much trauma take extra time, patience, and fortitude to adjust properly to living in a home. We won't give up on this warrior boy. We know that his family is out there.
