Title: Barking Up the Wrong Sea
Artist: Claire Krofft
Medium: Paper Collage
Dimensions: 11" x 14"
Animal Depicted: Captain Burnham & Captain Pike

One day in late August 2025, we rescued ten lives - mom (Captain Burnham), dad (Captain Pike), and eight puppies! The night before we rescued them, they were dumped in an alley. Neighbors gathered together to contain all of the puppies. Mom was sick - she wouldn't get up, and dad was at large but staying close.

We carried mom to the jeep, loaded up the puppies, and earned dad's trust. As soon as we were on our way to Stray Rescue, dad warmed right up and couldn't get close enough to us! We also discovered that the mom was NOT sick. She was just so terrified; she was paralyzed in fear. She was so worried about herself and her babies. But everyone was ok, and we were so thankful that this story had such a happy ending. We were grateful for the neighbors that worked together to help this frightened family, and we named them all in Star Trek theme.

Captain Pike and the babies were adopted fairly quickly, while mama Captain Burnham took a little extra time to find her forever home. We are so happy to have been a part of giving this family the happily ever afters that they all deserve!

Status: Both adopted
