On a bitter cold night, a KFC location near us called. "Someone abandoned a dog in our bathroom. Can you come get him?"

Donna headed out and found an emaciated, malnourished, shivering little baby in a box. She rushed him to our clinic where we named him Drummy. Thankfully, he didn't have Parvo, but he was starving. He was put on a strict feeding plan to avoid refeeding syndrome, which can be fatal. Basically, that means if you feed a malnourished dog too much too fast, their bodies can go into shock. He also got plenty of fluids and antibiotics. Even though he looked to only be about 7 weeks old, he was actually a 5 month old puppy. We promised him that we would get him healthy. His suffering was over. He was finally safe.

Today, you would never know Drummy had endured such a terrible situation. Today he is thriving in his forever home, ruling the roost, and loving the second chance at life that he has been given.
