Zila's story began when we received a call about a scared, horrifically injured dog that had wandered into someone's yard. When we arrived, we found a petite dog with severe wounds to her front right foot. It looked like it had been blasted off, and she was so scared and in so much pain, she wouldn't even walk. Cassady got the lead around her, and Julia, who took her own shirt off of her back, wrapped her up and carried her to the Jeep. Once she arrived at the shelter, her injuries were cleaned, and she was finally able to rest comfortably.

Two days after arriving at the shelter, Zila underwent a successful leg amputation surgery. At first, she was fearful and shut down, but once her pain was gone, her personality began to shine. A night spent at home with Sarah, one of the vet techs, changed everything - Zila started playing with toys, jumping into laps, and showing her happy, affectionate side for the first time.

As she healed, Zila adjusted beautifully to life on three legs. Her wounds improved, her tail never stopped wagging, and she became full of kisses, wiggles, and joy. Eventually, she left for a loving foster home where she continued recovering, learning new things, and soaking up all the love she had always deserved.

Artwork will NOT be available to pick up before this (unless you are notified otherwise via email). If you are not local to the St. Louis Area, shipping is available for this item upon request (for an additional cost which will be calculated for each piece individually).
