In January 2026, we got a call from someone in Springfield, MO. They said they found a dog on the highway, and if they were able to get her, could they bring her here? We of course said yes, but then we didn't hear from them. Fast forward a month later. They called and said, "We got her!"
That's right. This dog has been LIVING in the median of east bound and west bound 44 for a month, all by herself! The wonderful people who originally saw her had been trying to trap her, but she was too smart for her own good. She wouldn't go in, and she wouldn't let them come close before she would run off. She was even spotted near a church on the OTHER side of the highway a few times. It's a miracle she wasn't hit. It's another miracle these people didn't give up.
Once she finally made it to Stray Rescue, we named this red-haired beauty Queen Charlotte, and we fell madly in love with her. We would pair walk her with other dogs, and she wanted nothing more than to be admired and adored by everyone around her. As much as we loved her at Stray Rescue, she quickly found her forever home, and we are so happy that she is now safe and secure!
