Colt Idol "Space Cadet"

26"x26"

Original oil

Montana artist Colt Idol brings a sense of wonder and imagination to the Western tradition in Space Cadet. As the artist describes, "In this piece, I quite literally wanted to paint a young cowboy with his head in the clouds"-a playful yet thoughtful reflection on youth, possibility, and the spirit of the West.

A lifelong Montana resident, Idol has long been inspired by Western heritage and storytelling. After an injury-plagued basketball career shifted his path, he pursued art full-time under the guidance of his father, renowned artist Dick Idol, ultimately discovering his true passion.

Now based in Whitefish with his family, Idol has built a strong reputation across the West. His work is represented in prominent galleries throughout Montana and the region, and has been featured in prestigious exhibitions and auctions, including the National Museum of Wildlife Art's Western Visions, the Scottsdale Art Auction, and the C.M. Russell Museum's The Russell.

This original oil captures both technical mastery and heartfelt narrative-making it a standout addition to any collection of contemporary Western art.
