Bob Dylan, the wild-haired icon of the sixties, rendered in electric teal, cobalt, and gold, his face dissolving into thousands of hand-applied dots. This is the signature language of Philip Tsiaras's celebrated Dot Portraits: cultural legends created dot by painstaking dot, with no digital shortcuts. Each raised dot catches the light like braille for the eyes. Up close they are abstract constellations; step back, and Dylan stares straight through you. Dylan joins Tsiaras's pantheon of icons: Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Maria Callas, Elvis, Audrey Hepburn, Picasso, and Prince, to name a few. Each is painted with a precision only Tsiaras commands.

About the artist: Philip Tsiaras is a Greek American artist who came of age in the New York art world of Warhol, Haring, and Basquiat, where he carved out a style entirely his own. He has had more than one hundred solo exhibitions worldwide and has exhibited three times at the Venice Biennale. The Metropolitan Museum of Art acquired his work for its permanent collection early in his career, and his art is held in museum collections across the United States, Europe, and Asia. He is the subject of twenty books and catalogues. Tsiaras lives and works in New York City.
