Join the Northwest Community Forest Coalition May 27-29, 2026 for our Biennial Forest Forum in Whatcom, County Washington!

This multi-day forum will bring together community forest practitioners from across the region to learn, share, and collaborate around opportunities to grow and support the community forest network across the Northwest. The event will include site visits to local community forests, mills, and innovative forestry sites. Participants can enjoy a day of site visits to the Stewart Mountain Community Forests and adjacent county-owned forestlands as well as a day of panel sessions that will include:

  • Approaching community engagement in community forest planning, ongoing engagement, and engagement with Tribal partners
  • Designing community forest governance structures, from establishing to facilitating the necessary perspectives.
  • Perspectives on community benefits and outcomes from area forest management approaches, featuring local voices.
  • Accessing markets for community forest wood products.
  • Additional presentations TBA

This year's forum will be hosted at Camp Lutherwood, an event space nestled between the Chuckanut Mountains and Lake Samish, 15 minutes south of Bellingham. This idyllic space includes over 200 acres of forest, miles of trails, and cabins available for rent. Camp Lutherwood operates as a summer camp June-September and the Coalition is fortunate to have the opportunity to host the event with in this beautiful space!
