Here is another "shrimp-tastic" example of maritime themed craftsmanship! This jumbo metal shrimp statue was designed and created by the faculty and staff of the Goodwin welding department. This jumbo shrimp can be mounted on a polished table stand or a wall mounted peg making it a versatile display piece! Starting as a CAD file, the jumbo shrimp shell was cut out of sheet metal and then rolled and bent into curled segments. Its form was then put together by welding each segment to a flexible bundle of heavy gauge wire allowing the shrimp to wiggle and move just likes its smaller non-metallic cousins in the ocean. The various legs, antennas and feelers where all attached using the gas metal arc welding process and the blued coloring put into the metal by passing a thermal cutting torch flame over it repeatedly.
