Mark Lance was an amazing photographer, expert fly fisher, and a close friend to many Trout Unlimited members. Mark and his wife Sharon Lance were the "first couple" of Colorado conservation, and a key part of Trout Unlimited in Colorado and nationally for many years. Mark sadly passed away in 2022.
After retiring from a 37 year career in oil & gas, Mark founded River Light Images, a Colorado company focused on fly fishing lifestyle, outdoor adventure, and travel photography. His photography and writing was published regularly in fly fishing and outdoor journals, as well as several book covers and marketing campaigns for many outdoor brands including Orvis, Patagonia, Trout Unlimited, and more.
Mark's photography also graces the 2026 Trout Unlimited calendar! Mark had an extraordinary gift for capturing the spirit of fly fishing and the wild places we work to protect - his images reveal the heart of the angler's journey and the beauty of the waters we cherish.
