2026/2027 Tasmania
Fly Fish the Birthplace of Trout Fishing in the Southern Hemisphere

(6 days of Fly Fishing and exclusive experiences.)

Supported by: Anglers Alliance Tasmania

The Holy Grail for many fly anglers-home to some of the world's purest strains of wild brown trout and hauntingly beautiful landscapes. The mystery, the monster trout, and the end-of-the-earth exclusivity.

Tasmania Australia was written up by Kirk Deeter, former Editor in Chief of Field and Stream and current Trout Magazine editor, as one of the best trips he has ever taken. Now you and a guest can travel back in time to Tasmania where trout fishing began in the Southern Hemisphere. Home to the 2019 World Fly Fishing Championships, enjoy fishing the same venues as the Worlds with thousands of unpopulated lakes and streams.

Fly into either Hobart or Launceston, Tasmania and from there you are on to the Western Lakes of the Central Highlands for a week to be hosted by the leaders of the Anglers Alliance, as well as local guides and residents with a vast knowledge of the thousands of lakes and streams in the region. A World Heritage Site, the Western Lakes are famous for sight fishing large brown trout in crystal clear waters. During your time Down Under in Tasmania you will be hosted by highly experienced local guides with home hospitality and thousands of boat fishing and wadable lakes to choose from.

After your trip to the Highlands, you will be off to tour the historic "Salmon Ponds" where Tasmania's fly-fishing museum, ponds, hatchery and gardens are located. The saga of a decade's worth of effort in the 1860s is told where sailing ships from England resulted in the first successful rearing of trout in the Southern Hemisphere.

The final portion of your trip takes you to the heart of the historic Tasmanian capital City Hobart where you will stay one night at the Customs House Waterfront Hotel located on the Harbour. As an extra treat you will have the opportunity for a private tour of the still functioning Parliament House, seat of the Tasmanian government to be hosted by the Honorable Guy Barnett MP, Vice Premier and Attorney General of Tasmania including dinner as his guests. That evening, you will enjoy dinner with Malcolm Crosse, a legend of fly fishing down under and recipient of the Order of Australia medal, the Lee Wulff or Lefty Kreh of Australian fly fishing.

This unreproducible 7 day hosted and guided fishing extravaganza is for two anglers with lodging and fishing provided by your Tasmanian hosts. Some details may change due to available host schedules.

Subject to availability, valid through 4/31/27. Airfare and rental vehicle not included.
