2-Day, 3-Night, Wilderness Fly Fishing Adventure for Two People near Meeker, Colorado.
Budge's Wilderness Lodge sits on the banks of the upper White River, surrounded by wilderness on three sides. From the lodge, the river stretches into the Flat Tops Wilderness both upstream and downstream, where it's accessible by foot and horseback only. Budge's is an Orvis Endorsed Expedition, and the only outfitter on nearly 20 miles of this roadless river valley.
The trip includes three nights in one of our historic log cabins, two days of fully guided fishing with horseback access into the wilderness, and all meals throughout the trip. Anglers who do not wish to go on horseback, can strike out into the wilderness on foot with their guide. Does not include alcohol, gratuities, or transportation to and from the lodge (it's very remote and requires a 4WD vehicle with at least 9" of clearance).
To be used during the 2026 season. The season runs from June 28-October 1, 2026.
Experience remote wilderness fishing, with the comforts of a permanent base camp. Each day of the trip, you'll come down to the main lodge for a hearty breakfast. Then you will saddle up and head off into the wilderness for a day of fishing with your wrangler and guide. We provide a sack lunch for the journey. You'll fish a scenic river that's loaded with dry-fly crushing wild trout. At the end of each day, you'll ride back to the lodge, where appetizers, a campfire, and a home-cooked dinner will be waiting. You may relax on the deck with a glass of wine, play a game of cornhole, or return to your own cabin for some peace and quiet.
This adventure includes accommodations in one of our 1920s log cabins. A few improvements have been made since then, including rustic half-baths with cold running water. Otherwise, the cabins look much the way they did 100 years ago, striking a perfect balance between comfort, and an authentic wilderness experience. A community shower with hot water is a short walk from the cabins.
We use horses and mules to access these remote wilderness waters, but no riding experience is necessary; our stock are gentle and well-trained, perfect for beginner riders. No fly fishing experience is necessary. Our guides are patient and excellent teachers. There is no better place to learn how to fly fish than on these unpressured waters, teeming with wild trout. Anglers who would rather walk than ride, can go out with their guide on foot from the lodge.
The auction winner may add additional days or additional anglers at our regular rates.
