Sarah Irvin is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, and educator whose work investigates the cultural resonance of mothering and the complexities of caregiving. The pieces in her Connect the Dots series utilize compositions mimicking connect the dot worksheets for children that, when connected, produce no recognizable forms. By using this framework to produce something meaningless, Sarah is foregrounding the specific structure of meaning-making itself as well as the viewer's desire and ability to find recognizable form regardless of the artist's intention. Sarah works as Curator of Student Exhibitions and Programs at The Anderson. She was the co-curator of VisArts' 2023 exhibition, Self Adjacent, a group show that examined the transforming experience of parenthood by artists as they navigate their many identities alongside and within the field of caregiving.
